Reaction on DTI Sales Promotion Permit for Bloggers

Have you ever thought of ways to promote your blog sites without making your readers pay for what they are reading or even considering the prizes received by the winners on Online Contests a purchase? An article was published on a blog site, “Social Media Contest and Promotions Philippines”, entitled, “Individuals, Bloggers, Businesses, need a DTI Sales Promotion Permit even if there is no purchase required”, cause a stir and commotion among bloggers which caused various reactions from bloggers and readers alike. If the DTI pursues this quest, it would lead the blog sites into a debacle.

Let me reiterate the purpose of a DTI permit. A company or a person needs a DTI permit if you are going to promote a product with which in return would be bought by consumers. Consumers are those defined as “a natural person who is a purchaser, lessee, recipient or prospective purchaser, lessor or recipient of consumer products, services or credit”. Winning a contest and gaining a prize is not a form of purchase, besides, the prizes won by the participants came from the blogger’s own account. In short, those who participate and organized the contest does not fall into this category.

Judging the reactions of various bloggers, they are all against this absurdity. The DTI is oblivious about  the repugnance of the readers. They either think people are naive or incompetent about the law. Different blog firms would be revolting against this notion if the DTI pursues the idea.
